Storm talented trio to represent England

Surrey Storm youth players Fran Desmond, Rachel Mulloy and Ellie Fawsitt whom are all part of the Storm Talent Squad have been selected for the FENA squad, which will represent England U17 at the European Championships in March.

All three impressed England selectors enough on the opening weekend’s NTL fixtures in Sheffield as well as during training camps and selection pre Christmas. For 16-year-old Rachel Mulloy from Uxbridge the selection was particularly important. During the summer she was de selected from the England programme and has since worked incredibly hard to regain her place in the England U17 set up; “It made me more determined” she stated. “I just worked really hard on my fitness and on my court play so there is more of a sense of achievement this time around to be re selected”.

Meanwhile for 16-year-old defender Fran Desmond from Sevenoaks who has been training with the England U17 squad since last Easter, the European Championships would be her first major international tournament. “I’m really excited about making the squad” she stated. “I think I have improved a lot over the last year and of course it’s also my first year in the NTL squad so I am really pleased with how it’s going, it’s hard work but I am really enjoying it”.

Storm Talent next play on Sat 30th January after the Co-operative Netball Superleague encounter between Surrey Storm and Team Northumbria. See our events page for more information.
