Greenway looks ahead to Copper Box return

Player-coach Tamsin Greenway is relishing her return to the Copper Box Arena in March for Netball London Live 2015 following England’s recent win over Malawi at the venue.

An almost sell-out crowd witnessed the hosts cruise past Malawi to win 68-36 in a match which saw Greenway make her first start for the Roses since her semi-retirement from international netball in 2012.

“I’m absolutely loving being back in the England squad.” said Greenway.

“The girls have been amazing and to play again with such a talented group is incredible. The Copper Box now holds good memories for me with our victory at Netball London Live last season, and then to get my first start in the red dress since returning to the side at the same venue was pretty special.”

Surrey Storm will host a Superleague match of their own at the Copper Box in the New Year when they meet Hertfordshire Mavericks for Netball London Live 2015 and, with over 3300 tickets already sold for the match and more than two months to go, Greenway is excited to play in front of another record breaking Superleague crowd.

“It really will be another special occasion. Netball London Live 2014 was one of the best matches and events I have ever played in but I know that this time round will be bigger and better.

“To be able to say that Surrey Storm is part of the biggest ever domestic netball match in the country makes me proud as a player and a fan of the sport.

“The support for both teams was phenomenal last time and that is something that the players really do appreciate.”

With less than a month to go until the Superleague season kicks off with Storm travelling to Manchester Thunder, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, Greenway is confident that her squad can go one step further than before this season.

“We’ve got a really strong team this year. Bringing Pamela Cookey back in will obviously give us a huge advantage as she is world class.

“But we have a depth of talent across the squad and a lot of Superleague experience mixed in with youth, which is a great opportunity for everyone to learn from one and other.

“I won’t tempt fate, and it’s looking like this will be yet another massively competitive season. But we are in great shape and I am confident that we will once again be up there at the top of the table again this year.”
