The Opposition
Loughborough made their intentions clear over the summer, signing some key international stars including Kadeen and Sasha Corbin, Jade Clarke and Ama Agbeze, only for their fortunes to turn around with Sasha suffering a long-term injury and Jade announcing her return to the ANZ Championships next month.
Former Yorkshire Jets attacker Natalie Haythronthwaite made the move to Thunder in one of the key transfers of the summer, while 30 year old New Zealand international Liana Leota arrives in the UK to join husband and Sale Sharks player Johnny Leota, completing another strong Thunder squad under new Head Coach Dan Ryan.
The Ones to Watch
Peace Proscovia (Lightning) sits top of the shooting table so far this season having scored an impressive 166 goals with 192 attempts (86%), closely followed by Thunder’s Helen Housby on 138 goals (86%) meaning the Storm defence will need to be on top form across both fixtures.
The Squad
With Mikki Austin getting back to full fitness following her return to the squad, she will be pushing the already impressive Sophia Candappa for a spot in the starting 7.
Coach Kathryn Ratnapala will have the luxury of a full roster to choose from for both games.
Tickets and Coverage
Tickets for Saturday’s game at Loughborough are sold out, but there is limited availability for Monday’s clash at Manchester which is also live on Sky Sports 2 from 7.30pm.
There will be updates from both games on Facebook and Twitter.
